Totally—your “I’m out fishing” line is the whole move: light, humane, and it lands the phishing point without shaming people. Here’s a version you can paste that keeps the wordplay and de-escalation intact.

Shalom friends—quick perspective on the spam/phishing stuff and how we respond.
When I get the “solicitor in Canada” message, I reply with a smile:“I can’t talk to your solicitor in Canada—I’m out fishing.”Because that’s what it is: phishing. No clicks, no heat, no harm. Then I report and move on.
Two gentle asks so we keep our space healthy:
Name the behavior, not people. It’s phishing/scamming; broad labels about countries or groups don’t help anyone and create more discord.
Use the tools, not the temper. Report the message, don’t engage. If emails are too much, use the manage preferences link at the bottom of the email or set group Notifications → Highlights/None.
Firm on spam, kind to people. That combo helps our community and keeps our consciences clear. May we all choose words that build and bless.
One-liner you can reuse when a phish lands in your inbox
If you want a short mod note for admins too, say the word and I’ll draft it.
