What is Giluy Arayot?
Daily Study of the Noahide Code of Laws
The Divine Code for January 10, 2023
Today: Page 402 - 403
Topic Chapter 1:15 - 1:17
''Forbidden relations'' (giluy arayot in Hebrew, which literally translates as ''revealing the nakedness'') between a man and a woman refers only to sexual intercourse by inserting the male organ into a female's abdominal orifice (her vagina or anus). Any other type of physical contact is not called the act of having sexual intercourse. (i.e. ''relations'').
Nevertheless, all acts of sexual contact with a forbidden partner are abhorrent and are forbidden.
If someone has forbidden relations with someone who is asleep or is so bedridden (like Lot who did not know what he was doing), then only the active person is liable to punishment.
