This is part of a teaser for upcoming Noahide Superhero comics Rabbi Yitzchak Jetter and Rabbi Moshe Perets have been working on. For context, by the end of the teaser, David will be given a mission of educating people, spreading truth, and leading a team of heroes who do exactly that. Hope you enjoy!

A Sick Man

Eliyahu lay in his hospital bed. He looks in his seventies, and his skin is pale. There’s a knock on his door. He tells him to enter. In walks a familiar face, but Eliyahu can’t place who it is.

“Hello.”

“Hi, Eliyahu. This is David from shul.”

“Hey, Dave, I apologize for not recognizing you. How is everything?”

“Everything is fine. I got your number from the rabbi, and he told me what was going on with you. My wife and I would like to help you out. We should be able to cover your entire operation.”

“What?” Eliyahu paused to take it in. “I’m flattered, but where is this money coming from? And do you know that the procedure costs 300 grand?”

“Well, yes, and my wife and I have been saving up for a long time now. Between the 100k from others from our shul, and the 200k from Miriam and my savings, we can pay it. The 200 is most of our savings, though not the entire thing.”

“David, you should know that I’ve made peace with it. The doctors said that even with the operation, there’s only a 50% chance that I’ll survive. It’s a coin toss.”

“You know as well as I that our job is to do the right thing. Results are not our choice, they’re G-d’s choice.”

Eliyahu looked David in the eye, then looked off into space. “Could you give me ten minutes to think it over?”

“Sure.” David walked out into the hallway and rested his back against the wall. He took out his phone to update Miriam about Eliyahu.
