Can't I just Leave a Check?

Daily Study of the Noahide Code of Laws

The Divine Code for February 16, 2023

Today: Page 488 - 489

Topic Chapter 1:9

Regarding objects designated for sale for which the manner of payment is known and recognized by the merchant and custumers, it is permitted to take this merchandise and pay for it in the accepted manner through a second person (who is trusted and reliable in the eyes of the owner).

If a person took merchandise with the intention of paying for it, buth then without permission he did not pay for it immediately, this is theft.

It appears that it is forbidden to take merchandise and leave a prepared check as payment without permission, because maybey the owner does not wish to recieve checks. However, if it is known that the owner agrees to a certain means of payment, by receiving a check or specific itemt in exchange for his sold merchandise, then it is permissible.
