Exodus 15:23
The Israelites] came to Marah, but they could not drink waters from Marah because they were bitter
The Baal Shem Tov explained that they themselves were bitter – and so that is how the water tasted.
We experience life on the instrument of who we are. Many people struggle with their faith in G-d. If they themselves would become people who were more faithful – whom others could trust and rely on – it would impact their ability to have faith and trust in G-d.
