The Torah explicitly acknowledges that the sex drive is one of the most powerful forces influencing human behavior, and certainly recognizes how difficult it is for almost everyone to be completely free of illicit thoughts, fantasies, lusts and arousals.
G-d has prescribed specific sexual boundaries for society as a whole and also in heterosexual marriage.
One of the reasons why the Cananites were not allowed to remain in the land of Israel was their sexual excesses, which were considered normal and accepted in their society.
Throughout history, we see societies, marriages and human lives destroyed because they did not adhere to G-d-given boundaries.
