- What Is the Purpose of Existence? In Road-Map for Noahides·January 2, 2023A soul is formed in the womb of supernal spiritual realms, where it acquires its distinct identity and mission. To fulfill this mission, it is dispatched to the physical realm, enclothed within an Animal Soul and equipped with a body. Here the G‑dly Soul is challenged by the (apparently) conflicting needs and desires of the Animal Soul; here divine reality is obscured by the dense selfhood of the body and physical world. In this arena of hidden truth and perpetual challenge, the soul can fully express and actualize its divine power.4127
- Snow: A Poetic Noahide PerspectiveIn Soul Medicine·December 25, 2022One of the many things that fascinates me about Hebrew and Jewish philosophy is the concept of "revealed Torah". What is "revealed Torah"? As I understand it, "revealed Torah" has to do with the aspects of the physical creation all around us. The "revealed" aspects of the Creator (so to speak) through all of Creation. As a Noahide (a non-Jew who tries to abide by the moral laws of the Torah as taught to Noah), I believe that nature and Creation can help us to better understand not only The Creator, but also to better understand our purpose of existing in this world. The wisdom that we as humanity can learn from The Creator's Creation can also help us better understand ethics according to the teachings of the Hebrew Bible. One of many examples that I have personally learned from God's Creation is the fascinating nature of snow. Snow has always intrigued me because of the beauty and dangers of it. How can something like snow be so beautiful, serene, fun, sentimental, yet at the same time can be so dangerous that it can even cost the lives of people? I often ponder about this every time I see snow. I especially ponder about these things during Chanukah season. This Winter of 2022, it happened to snow during Chanukah Season in our area. Thus, I was reminded of some interesting characteristics of it. One characteristic being how snow can be transformed into various forms: 1. Powder and fluff 2. Visible Ice (hardened) 3. Invisible Ice (hardened transparent ice). The above three forms of snow always reminds me of our evil inclinations which are within all of us human beings. The Jewish Philosophy calls our evil inclinations the "Yetzer Ha-Ra". The "yetzer ha-ra" in concept are the traits within us that can bring physical and spiritual harm to ourselves and to society. In the Jewish Philosophical thought, the goal of humanity is to target our evil inclinations for the purpose of conquering them. By conquering our evil inclinations, we rid the "darkness" inside of us. When we rid the "darkness" inside of us, the light of The Creator shines in and through us. As I understand it, the amount of "light" that can shine inside and through us depends on how much we are willing to rid our inner "darkness". How can snow remind us of our evil inclinations? I believe the answer is found by observing the three forms that snow can have: powder, visible ice, and invisible ice. Let's review these three forms of snow... Powder As I observe snow in its powder form I am reminded of how the evil desires inside of us can appear to be very beautiful on the surface, but in reality it brings only harm to us. Just as snow looks very beautiful as it rests upon the surface of the ground, so can our evil inclinations look beautiful in our lives. However, the beauty of snow in its powder form can be very deceiving. How so? Snow has the ability to cover up dangerous parts of the ground. For example, sometimes there are pot holes in the road and the sidewalks and also holes in fields. If a person is walking on the roads with pot poles or on grassy terrain with holes all around, the snow makes the holes invisible. Thus, people are at risk of injuring themselves by possibly spraining their ankles when walking in the snow on those types of terrain. Without being able to see the holes due to the snow covering them, a person will not be able to safely walk in those areas. Likewise, the evil inclination has similar characteristics in that it looks beautiful on the "surface" of our lives, but that apparent "beauty" covers the dangerous areas of our lives just as snow covers the holes in the roads and grassy terrains. If we allow our evil inclinations to cover up the dangerous areas of our lives, we will not be able to see what we need to avoid and to conquer. We will become blind and our blindness will cause injury to us and it may cause injury to others around us as well. Visible Ice Another way that snow reminds me of the evil inclination is how it hardens when compressed. Once snow becomes compressed, it becomes hard and no longer holds its powder form. This can make the snow dangerous because in its hardened form (ice) it can injure people if it strikes someone. It can also injure people by making them slip and fall. At least when snow is in its original powder form, it has more traction for people to walk on than when it hardens into ice. Similarly, when the evil inclination within us is not immediately removed but rather, it is allowed to sit there in our lives to "harden into ice" it becomes more difficult to remove. Furthermore, by allowing our evil inclinations to "harden into ice", we also allow it to bring more dangers into our lives. Just like snow is more dangerous once it hardens to ice, it is the same regarding our evil inclinations when we let our bad character traits "harden" like ice in our hearts and minds. Invisible Ice In my personal non-Jewish opinion, this form of snow is the most dangerous one. It is known as "black ice" or invisible ice. It is "invisible" because it is ice that is transparent. This means that it no longer has its white color. Rather, it blends in with its surroundings so that we cannot visibly see it. At least not easily. This type of ice is often formed on top of the road or the sidewalk and is not seen. Due to its invisibility, it creates many dangers for people who are walking or driving on roads. It is often called "black ice" because it blends in with the black asphalt of the road. This type of ice is commonly responsible for car accidents on the road as well as various slip hazards for pedestrians. This type of ice can be an example of our HIDDEN evil inclinations. Meaning that once our bad character traits "harden" like ice, they can blend in with various aspects of our lives which then causes those bad traits to become so habitual, that we no longer see them as evil. Those bad traits become like transparent ice which blends into its surroundings. This is very dangerous because the worst kind of enemy is the one you never see coming. Spiritually speaking, our evil inclinations are our enemies. Thus, if our evil inclinations become like transparent ice, we will not be able to target them nor be able to conquer them. In my non-Jewish opinion, this is the most dangerous form our evil inclinations can take on. Thawing The Snow and Ice Once snow hardens to any form of ice, it becomes difficult to get rid of. Shoveling snow is one thing on a snowy day, but shoveling ice is a whole different thing. Ideally, having no snow is the best option. However, when nature and creation takes its course, sometimes it snows and there is nothing we can do about it. So once it snows, the best thing to do is to shovel it as soon as possible before it transforms to any type of ice. Once it turns to ice, we have to use extra resources such as salt or other chemicals to rid the ice. This takes more time, energy, and resources. So it is not the ideal choice. However, it is a necessary one when no other option is possible. So this plus the warmth of the sunlight will thaw the snow and ice. Just as the warmth of the sun melts the snow and the ice, so will the Light and Righteousness of The Creator and His Torah bring warmth and healing to our souls. This warmth and healing can "thaw" the "snowy" and "icy" evil inclinations within each and every one of us. In these days, may we as humanity become aware of our "snowy" and "icy" evil inclinations and desire to "thaw" them away by the Light and Warmth" of The Creator (Blessed Be He). Isaiah 60:19 (19) The sun shall be no more your light by day; nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but HaShem shall be to you an Everlasting Light, and your God your glory. Micah 7:8 (8) Rejoice not against me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, HaShem shall be a Light to me.

- TestemunhoIn World-Wide Meetings·December 9, 2022Sou Antônio Márcio Braga Silva, sigo as Sete Leis Universais desde 2016, resido no Brasil, no Interior do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
- Chanukah: A Battle of Cultures or a Battle of Ethics? In Soul Medicine·December 19, 2022As I was enjoying the peaceful snowfall today, I started pondering about Chanukah Season again. There is just something about a calm, quiet snowy day that gets me in a very pensive and spiritual mood. Since this snow day is on a weekend, I can actually enjoy it 😁 One thing about Chanukah that fascinates me as someone who is not Jewish, is the historical as well as spiritual significance of it. Often times when non-Jews hear about Chanukah or study it more in-depth, the content of the study can sometimes come across as focusing on the clashing of two different Cultures (The Greeks and the Jews). Historically speaking, this is true that during the time of the Maccabean Revolt the two main opposing Cultures that went to war with each other were the Greeks and the Jews because of great religious and political differences. Though I believe the historical context of Chanukah is important for us to understand, if we just leave it at that, I think we can miss a deeper spiritual understanding of what took place during that time. So then what else can non-Jews learn from Chanukah other than the historical context of it? Disclaimer: The below content is only my non-Jewish opinion and pensive thoughts about Chanukah for this year. Nothing more and nothing less. I am not Jewish, nor am I a professional scholar in this matter. The purpose of the below content I am writing is strictly in the context of me just sharing some of my nerdy thoughts about Chanukah. With that said, if you wish to continue reading, I hope that you enjoy that which is written. As a Vietnamese American who enjoys studying Jewish Philosophy and Spirituality, I am absolutely fascinated by the spiritual teachings that revolve around Chanukah. Especially the message regarding LIGHT. First of all, I absolutely love the scientific study of light ("Photonic Physics" so to speak). Light has always fascinated me. The nature of it, how things are affected by it, the mystical and spiritual lessons a person can learn from it, etc... Thus, Chanukah being the Jewish Holiday about light(s) is a perfect fit for my nerdy self 🤓 As I understand it, the main message of Chanukah is about light. Specifically, us human beings embracing light and truth in moral righteousness and spiritually becoming lights for the world around us. What does this mean? What does "becoming lights around us" mean? As I understand it, the way we become lights to the world around us, is by ridding the darkness from within us. What darkness can we rid of within us? According to the Hebrew Bible, darkness can refer to any negative character trait within human beings that can cause barriers between us and The Almighty Creator God: The Creator of the Universe (or multiverse). So what are some things that the Hebrew Bible teaches regarding the darkness within the human heart? As I understand it, some traits that can be considered "darkness" are: Theft Lust Anger Hate Spite Envy Jealousy Slander (Gossip) Hunger for Power Toxic Ideologies Vengeance Cruelty to animals and nature The list goes on and on... Thus, according to the Hebrew Bible and the teachings of the Jewish Culture, the traits listed above are the negative ones that can cause not only harm to society but also harm to one's own spiritual growth. Therefore, to battle those negative traits, we must replace those traits with their opposites. For example: Instead of theft, we exercise charity. Instead of lust, we learn to love and connect with each other in truth. Instead of anger, we pursue serenity. Instead of hate, we exercise compassion. Instead of spite towards others, we exercise forgiveness. Instead of envy, we should count our blessings and be grateful. Instead of jealousy, we should want good for others. Instead of slander (gossip), we should speak good about others. Instead of hungering for power, we should have humility. Instead of toxic ideologies, we should embrace healthy philosophies. Instead of vengeance, we should exercise justice. Instead of being cruel to animals and nature, we should care for them. The above are some examples of "light" and good traits that can help us as humanity bring peace to the world around us. The more "light" that we "seed" into our souls and hearts, the more "light" that will shine from us. The more "light" that shines from within us, the more "light" we will be able to "ignite" in others around us for the greater good in moral righteousness. So then, how do we bring "light" to this world? As I understand it, we do so by looking within ourselves and seek to correct the negative traits within our hearts. Only by looking within ourselves and dispelling the darkness from within us with the "light" of good character traits can we truly bring light to this world. If we try to look at each other instead of looking within ourselves, we can actually bring damage to the world around us. By trying to "fix" other people around us with our own opinions and forcing our beliefs on others, we can actually damage the potential "light" in others around us. Furthermore, by not looking within ourselves in order to change the negative traits within ourselves first, we can become arrogant. However, if we humble ourselves before The Almighty Creator, we can nullify our egos. The more we nullify our egos, the more we dispel the darkness from within us. The more we dispel the darkness from within us, the more God's Light will shine inside of us. This fascinating philosophical and spiritual concept is what I absolutely love about Chanukah. As a non-Jew, I appreciate this concept as it has personally helped me to grow in my faith and belief in the Hebrew God. In conclusion: How does Chanukah personally help me to grow in my faith as a non-Jew? It does so by reminding me that Chanukah is not about the clashing of cultures (Greek vs Jew). Rather, it is about "darkness" vs "light". The idea of "darkness" vs "light" shows no favoritism to any Culture regardless of whether or not one is Hebrew/Jewish or Gentile (non-Jew). That is, "darkness" is "darkness" and "light" is "light". Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Period. If any culture embraces moral "darkness" they will bring harm to themselves and others. If any culture embraces "light", they will bring goodness to themselves and others. Therefore, I believe that the theme of Chanukah is about recognizing the difference between "light" and "darkness" and that we are to ignite the light within each of us in order to dispel all darkness from our souls and from the world. Just as the Jewish people ignite a Chanukah candle each night during the eight days of Chanukah, may we as humanity be like the candles and ignite the light in others around us by first looking within ourselves and igniting the light inside of us. Thank you all for taking the time to read this post. May you all be blessed during this Chanukah of 2022. In context of Chanukah and the spiritual message of "light", the below Bible verse references that mention "the wicked" and "adversaries" could also refer to the negative traits that are within all humanity. The same traits that are the enemy of our souls and hinder our spiritual growth to connect to The Almighty Creator. I believe that this is the "enemy" that we all as humanity must destroy and conquer... Psalm 27:1-4 (1) A Psalm of David. HaShem is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? HaShem is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? (2) When the wicked, my enemies and my adversaries, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. (3) Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident. (4) One thing have I desired of HaShem, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of HaShem all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of HaShem, and to inquire in His temple.

- Participating in idolatrous rituals vs. family gatheringIn Questions & AnswersJuly 26, 2022B"H Shalom Tadamasa! Here is my opinion: Under the category of the prohibition of idolatry, there are several commandments on the prohibition of turning to idol worship. On page 145 of The Divine Code (2nd Ed), we read that "if bad feelings, anger, or hatred will arise if one does not attend a wedding that is connected with idol worship, [...] one is allowed to join the celebration even if the others engage in idol worship in honor of the occasion. But each person is individually forbidden to join in any type of celebration or prayer in which the idol is mentioned". In this ruling, I would replace "wedding" with "funeral", for it the celebration of one's life. Thus, I think you may attend to avoid bad feelings on the rest of your family, but do not join in any idolatrous prayers. If, however, the whole service is focused on idol worship, including consuming food in response to idol worshiping, then I do not recommend you attend.14

- What is a Mitzvah - Commandemnt? In Road-Map for Noahides·January 2, 2023A mitzvah is a G‑dly deed. Every time a soul performs a mitzvah—giving a coin to charity, studying Torah, respecting one's family —it acts as a "partner with G‑d in creation" and brings G‑d's presence into the world. The mitzvot are all physical deeds—so the soul can perform them only while a resident of the physical world, invested within an Animal Soul and a body. Thus the duration of its physical life is the soul's only opportunity to perform mitzvot. Everything that comes before and after is just a prequel and sequel to the soul's greatest and loftiest moments—its acts of connecting the G‑dly with the mundane.2118

- Snow: A Poetic Noahide PerspectiveIn Soul MedicineDecember 25, 2022Beautiful poetic comments on Snow Daniel! How do the righteous merit a revelation of this light? Through the garments brought into being from the Torah and its mitzvos, as stated in Iggeres HaKodesh, loc. cit. For this reason, [i.e., because it makes it possible for this light to be grasped,] the Torah is referred to as “the primeval analogy.” And concerning this level, it is said (Daniel 7:9): “And the One of Ancient Days (Atik Yomin) sat; His garments were like white snow.” “His garments” refer to the Torah which is described with the analogy of snow. Snow is water that is crystallized; similarly, an analogy conceals the analogue. [When snow is melted, water is produced. Similarly, when the analogy, the Torah, is understood, one comprehends the analogue, the G‑dliness invested in it.] See the explanation of the verse “His garments were like white snow” in the maamar entitled Ki BiYom Hazeh Yichaper in [Likkutei Torah,] Parshas Acharei [also translated in this series], the section beginning Hinei Chayei [pp. 86-90 above.] From Chayav Inish: Purim - Endnotes From the teachings of Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi; adapted by Eli Touger11

1. Referenties: 1. Weiner, M. (2016).
