Beauty In Biblical Submission

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

By Jelena Derosa

Society has taken this concept of submission and twisted it to make it feel suppressive. Many women have been confused, even angry, or just twisted this around to mean something else. Sadly, in the world, many women want to take over men's obligations/roles and feel superior to him. We are all equal but have different roles.

The people who see this concept in a negative way don't understand how beautiful and natural it is! G-d created us to be under our husband's protection and rely on him for guidance, love, and safety.

There is nothing more beautiful than the story of the creation of man and woman. We learn such valuable information from this story alone and see the beauty in G-d's ways. Everything has a purpose and a reason behind it. Let's explore this briefly.

Eve came from Adam's rib!

Not his head to be above him.

Not from his feet to be below him.

Why? Because she is EQUAL to him. She is covered by his protection. She is to stand beside him.

Men and women who carry out their divinely given roles work so wonderfully together. Their marriage flourishes.

When a women submits to her husband she is allowing him to make final decisions and trusts him enough to do what's best for the family.

Submission doesn't mean:

I have no voice, I'm a doormat, or I can't help my husband with anything!

I am supposed to voice my opinions, G-d created women to be more spiritual. We can see where our husbands need help and serve them. We work together as one, in our perfect G-d given roles.

The man is responsible for his household, to provide for them and to take care of his wife in every way. The woman is so valued.

I pray that more women out there see the beauty of submission for what it actually is. To also, see the blessings that flow from it.

When there is complete safety and trust in a marriage, there is willful submission.
